I have always wondered how to publish a book. I thought that it was just something that only certain people could do. That may have been true ten years ago, but today anyone can publish anything.
I was searching for how to publish a book when I found Lulu.com. This site is incredible. The possibilities are swimming around in my head and I just cant stop thinking about new projects. Lulu.com is not a vanity press. If you want to know how to publish a book, Lulu.com can walk you through each and every decision. You will retain all of the rights to your work; you will set the price and royalties. You will be the publisher. I think that now that I know how to publish a book on Lulu.com, I will compile a cookbook. I want to have a special niche to it, though. I was thinking that maybe a garden vegetable cookbook with photos from my husbands garden. A family history would be a fun thing to publish. My grandmother has been amassing old photos from the turn of the last century for a long time. Now that I know how to publish a book, I should ask her to start writing stories that she remembers about our family. I have also thought that a biography of my life would be an interesting read. I have a feeling that even though Ive learned how to publish a book, I havent learned how to sell them! I dont know how many people would actually be interested in my life. I do think that I should have been writing down my thoughts in a journal, just in case. I dont know if knowing how to publish a book is going to help me whatsoever, but it is nice information to have. I think that I am more likely to use Lulu.com to make calendars than anything else. I could take pictures of the flowering vegetable plants in my husbands garden for use in a calendar. Im sure someone would appreciate the beauty of an okra flower.
